Peter took his time when looking for a Ute that ticked all the boxes - then he drove the JAC T9 Ute. Hear from Peter on why the JAC T9 was the obvious choice for him and his lifestyle."I didn’t rush into buying a new Ute. I drive more than 1,000 kilometres a week, so I needed something safe, reliable, and good on fuel. Over several months I tested more than a dozen vehicles, and while some were close, none ticked every box. Then I tried the JAC T9, and it just felt right.
The big drawcard was safety. It’s the first car I’ve owned with a 5-star ANCAP rating, and that peace of mind is huge. Add in the child anchor points, a stack of driver-assist features, and I felt confident straight away. I like that I can customise the steering feel too - I set mine to comfort mode because those long freeway drives are tiring enough.
Fuel economy was another must, and the T9 has been surprisingly efficient. It’s smooth on the freeway, handles well around town, and is comfortable for long days behind the wheel. I went with black leather seats and the black ceiling, and the cabin feels solid and modern. I’ve ordered rubber mats and I’m waiting for seat covers, but even without them it’s a nice place to spend time.
The infotainment system took me a bit to get used to, but now that I’ve set it up it works fine. I use Apple CarPlay daily, and it connects seamlessly with my iPhone.
One quirky reason I picked this Ute was the indicators. The rear ones are big and bright, and I actually love that. It’s a detail most people wouldn’t think about, but it makes a difference when you’re on the road every day.
With its tray space and towing ability, I’ve even been able to sell my old people-mover van. I don’t go off-road much, but it’s handy to know the option is there. Between the warranty, value for money, and how it drives day-to-day, the T9 has been a great choice.
