JAC and Built team up to support a raffle for a cause.
Launched at a site-wide address at one of Built Construction’s Sydney projects, JAC Motors and Built announced a major NSW ute raffle in support of the Fragile X Association of Australia.Built construction worker Jason D’Amico has been personally impacted by Fragile X Syndrome, with his two sons, Alex and Jaxon, navigating life with the diagnosis.
Speaking at the address, Jason shared, “The Fragile X Association of Australia (FXAA) helped my wife and I through an extremely difficult time. We found out Jax and Alex were diagnosed with Fragile X syndrome one week after Alex was born.”
“It's unbelievable how quick you can go from a high to devastation. We didn't know what to expect but FXAA picked us up and showed us that we didn't have to face this road alone,” he added.
By purchasing a $50 raffle ticket, participants go into the draw to win a brand-new JAC ute valued at $47,001, while directly supporting the Fragile X Association of Australia.
Project Manager Tim Polortoff also spoke at the launch, saying, “Setting up an initiative like this is personal, I'm very proud of it. I'm excited for everyone to get behind this great cause for one of our own.”
Fragile X Syndrome is the most common inherited cause of intellectual disability, affecting around 1 in 4,000 males and 1 in 6,000 females. It is caused by a change in the FMR1 gene on the X chromosome. While the genetic change is small, it can have a significant impact on how a person understands the world, manages emotions and connects with others. Fragile X can present differently for each individual, with a wide range of intellectual, behavioural and physical characteristics. Despite its prevalence, awareness of the condition remains limited.
Fragile X Association of Australia (FXAA) is the national charity supporting individuals and families impacted by Fragile X and related conditions. FXAA provides counselling, a national HelpLine, education programs and peer support, while also funding research and advocating for greater understanding and inclusion. As a community-funded organisation, FXAA relies on the generosity of donors, fundraisers and grant partners to continue this important work.
