I drive a JAC. As told by Brent from QLD.

We met Brent at the Visual Impact Exhibition in Sydney, where JAC Motors was on display. Brent was exhibiting at the event too, so naturally, we got chatting and it didn’t take long for him to start sharing his experience with his JAC T9.

From fitting a full-size pallet in the tray for work to everything he gets up to day-to-day, Brent had plenty to say about his T9.

First Impressions

"I bought a new JAC Haven T9 Ute in November 2025 from a dealership in Melbourne. I drove the car to the Gold Coast via the Hume and Pacific Highway over two days. Wow, what a pleasure to drive. Being a leaf sprung IFS ute, I assumed the journey would be painful. It was the exact opposite. Massive tick of approval for highway driving.

A little over 1,100kms per tank, comfortable, smooth and steady on the road at the speed limits. Good acceleration when needed for overtaking, with the turbo spooling up quicker and at lower revs than I expected from a diesel. The build quality, interior finishes, seats and that awesome centre console display made mince-meat of the long-haul journey."

"There are plenty of safety features, and with unpredictable drivers, changing weather and Australia’s native wildlife on the roads, it was reassuring to have them all working seamlessly together, particularly in those unexpected moments. I really appreciated having that extra peace of mind, as these features helped make the journey feel safer."

"As I am in the sign industry, I needed a ute for work. There is a plethora to choose from, however as I am naturally analytical, I listed all the features and my needs by manufacturer and model, including price, to compare and assign a score. JAC had the highest features to price ratio of all the utes I investigated, making it a clear winner in my mind. The fact that it came with an extensive 7-year warranty and a 5-year lease gave us confidence. And, worst-case scenario, we could essentially buy two of these utes for the price of one of the more popular brands on the market at a similar specification level.

For me, I really needed a ute where a full-size pallet can be loaded into the tub with the tailgate up and without taking the sports bars off. When I picked-up my first 500kg plus payload pallet, I was shocked that acceleration and power performance were not affected. It had the same get up and go, braking and ride stability as if there was nothing in the back. Super impressed."

"Having owned the car for nearly a year now, it was the right decision. No issues, everything works. Getting the software updated at its first service made the car go from good to great. My local JAC dealer is Von Bibra and I am so happy they are supporting this brand.

There were so many things about the JAC T9 that gave me the confidence to take that leap of faith and buy it. From the convenience of having everything automated to the sheer level of standard equipment, the T9 Haven comes with far more features than many of the fully optioned models from more established ute brands. I bought a luxury ute for under $50k - how's that!

But what really did it for me, what I really like the most, is that darn front end, the look of that grill, bonnet and headlights - wow. It is so hot. Love driving it. It feels good and looks good. Cannot believe I am saying this, but I am a JAC fan for life now. All I need now is a customer who needs me to put up some signage somewhere that requires a 4WD adventure to get there - dirty, muddy, rocky or sandy tracks included. I can’t wait!"
